Meneka Senn (soprano)

After her Bachelor studies at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, Meneka Senn decided to specialise in (early) baroque opera.
She took part in the Exzellenz Program Barock Vokal in Mainz, Germany, where she took lessons from Andreas Scholl, among others.

Meneka has performed in opera projects conducted by Sigiswald Kuijken, Maris Kupcs, Fabio Bonnizoni and Raphael Alpermann, and sang in ensembles including Philippe Herreweghe, Peter Philips and Ton Koopman.

In February 2017 she was accepted into the Carnegie Hall young artist program in New York, where she has collaborated with the Tallis Scholars.

In 2017-2019 she was a soloist at the Opera theater JK Tyla in Pilsen, Czech Republic. With their Monteverdi production, where she played the roles of La Musica and Euridice, she performed at the Markgräfiches Theater Bayreuth, among others.

Meneka continues her studies, Master of Music, at the conservatory of Tilburg, in the class of Sinan Vural.
The 2019-2020 season was dominated by the 42 performances of De Toverfluit, a co-production by Silbersee and De Toneelmakerij, where she sang the role of Pamina. Since 2018, Meneka has also been stage director and assistant director at opera Nijetrijne. She also performed the latter function in October 2020 at the Le Nozze Di Figaro, a production of the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam. Meneka is founder of Yala Music, which organizes music productions at home and abroad.
She is currently coached by Maurits Draijer, and lives in Amsterdam.
