2 Beethoven & the Romantic in Gelderland with Olga Paschenko || Huis Zypendaal

In this second part, in which the Geelvinck series ‘Beethoven & the Romantic Period’ takes you to Huis Zypendaal van Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen, the guide Alfred Sterk tells about the history of this Arnhem country estate. Thereafter, Olga Pashchenko plays Beethoven’s Große Sonata für Hammerklavier on a fortepiano, which was built by Conrad Graf in Vienna around 1836. At the end of his life, Beethoven used a Graf fortepiano (now in the Beethovenhaus Bonn). This instrument of Museum Geelvinck once belonged to the famous Colt Collection (England). Repertoire: Ludwig van Beethoven (1770/72-1827), Piano Sonata No. 29, Op. 106 (1817/18).
