Under the title ‘Bach and Beyond’, Pearls in Baroque, conducted by Noriko Amano, presents a series of three concerts in the Kleine Zaal for the 2023-2024 season, in which Bach and one other baroque composer play a central role. 

The season starts on Sunday 12 November with an Autumn matinee in a pastoral atmosphere with a harpsichord (clavecimbel) concerto by Bach and The Four Seasons by Vivaldi.

Pearls in Baroque: baroque dance and beautiful costumes

Pearls in Baroque stands for a visually attractive, authentic performance by top musicians of famous and less well known highlights from the baroque repertoire, with baroque dance and beautiful costumes. 

The 2nd concert is on Sunday 11 February, an intimate Winter matinee with two Sonatas for violin and harpsichord by Bach and a harpsichord (clavecimbel) concerto by Rameau.

The season will close on Thursday 30 May with a coffee concert in an animated atmosphere with Bach’s Kaffeekantate and Bernier’s Le Caffé.

Serie Pearls in Baroque 2023 / 2024: 12 november 2023, 11 februari & 30 mei 2024

Pearls in Baroque presenteert onder leiding van klaveciniste Noriko Amano een serie van drie concerten in de Kleine Zaal waarin steeds Bach èn een andere barokcomponist centraal staan. Pearls in Baroque staat voor ultieme barokmuziek en brengt visueel aantrekkelijke, authentieke uitvoeringen door topmusici van bekende en minder bekende hoogtepunten uit het barokrepertoire met barokdans en schitterende kostuums.

Het seizoen begint op zondag 12 november met een Herfstmatinee in pastorale ambiance met een Klavecimbelconcert van Bach en De vier jaargetijden van Vivaldi, uitgevoerd door de fantastische barokviolist Ryo Terakado. Op zondag 11 februari volgt een intieme Wintermatinee met een Klavecimbelconcert van Rameau en twee sonates voor viool en klavecimbel van Bach, met diepgang gespeeld door Sayuri Yamagata, concertmeester van de Bachvereniging. Het seizoen wordt afgesloten op donderdag 30 mei met een Koffieconcert in geanimeerde sfeer dat met de Kaffeekantate van Bach en Le Caffé van Bernier het verhaal vertelt van hoe koffie in de tijd van barok Europa veroverde.
