Known for its rollicking, foot-stomping jubilance, the boogie-woogie sound erupted from the American South during the late 1920s. This piano-centric sub-genre of the jazz tradition drew its structural elements from the blues and spiri-tuals, but introduced an intoxicating rhythmic complexity that inspired generations of young dancers. Traditionele blues, boogie woogie en klassieke New Orleans jazz en R & B, je kunt het zo gek niet bedenken, alles vliegt uit de vingers van pianist en vocalist Ricky Nye! Ricky kwam in 2013 in de International Boogie Woogie Hall of Fame, in 2019 werd hij Blues Artist of the Year in Cincinnati’s CEA Awards. Als 12-jarige begon hij zijn carrière met optredens in de familieband, later met wereldberoemde artiesten als jazzgitarist Wilbert Longmire, Cincinatti Blues ikoon Big Ed Thompson, H-Bomb Ferguson en pianisten als Joe Duskin en Pigmeat Jarrett.

Al meer dan 20 jaar geniet hij bekendheid in de VS en Europa, waar hij optrad in solo, duo en combo settings. Al jaren werkt hij samen met de “The Paris Blues Band” met swingende blues en boogie woogie optredens in de VS en Frankrijk. Ook leidt hij zijn eigen Trio/Kwartet RICKY NYE INC.
