Partnerschap met Muziekinstrumenten Museum MVIM in Rio de Janeiro opgezet, 1 juli 2021

Dat het gisteren Keti Koti Dag was, maakte de realisering van de samenwerking tussen Museum Geelvinck en het Museum voor Muziekinstrumenten MVIM in Rio de Janeiro extra betekenisvol. Onze communicatie over Keti Koti is direct op de socials van MIVM geplaatst: @mvim.museu. Ook ons project ‘Beethoven is Black’ krijgt aandacht, gezien de historische relatie tussen Nederland en Braziië, waarbij ons gedeelde slavernijverleden een verbindende rol speelt. 

Museu Virtual de Instrumentos Musicais / MVIM

The Museu Virtual de Instrumentos Musicais [Virtual Museum of Musical Instruments] (http://mvim.ibict.br), is an innovative museum experience that brings together in its virtual space collections of musical instruments from Brazilian institutions, in order to present and disseminate them in a dynamic and innovative way, emphasizing educational aspects, thus becoming a space for the convergence of collections and knowledge. The MVIM was conceived in 2011 by the Instituto Brasileiro de Informação em Ciência e Tecnologia [Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology] – IBICT (https://www.ibict.br/), a renowned research and teaching institution in our country, with funding from the Fundação Carlos Chagas Filho de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Rio de Janeiro [Carlos Chagas Filho Foundation for Research Support of the State of Rio de Janeiro] (FAPERJ). Today, MVIM has the collection of musical instruments from the Museu Instrumental Delgado de Carvalho [Delgado de Carvalho Instrumental Museum], at the School of Music of the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro [Federal University of Rio de Janeiro] (https://musica.ufrj.br/index.php/institucional/museus/museu- delgado-de-carvalho), and is adding to its collection the instruments of the Museu Villa-Lobos [Villa-Lobos Museum] (https://museuvillalobos.museus.gov.br/) and the Instituto Moreira Salles [Moreira Salles Institute] (https://ims.com.br/ ), work that should be completed by the end of 2021′.

Dankzij ons partnerschap kon het MVIM een projectplan indienen als reactie op een oproep van de Nederlandse ambassade.

Cultural Heritage Fund 2021

Ana Cristina Valentino, museoologe en researcher aan het MVIM, schrijft: Our contact is due to the preparation of a project for the “Public Call: Cultural Heritage Fund 2021”, promoted by the Fund for Cultural Heritage of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which aims to support organizations in Brazil in favor of conservation, sustainable use, administration, and visibility of cultural heritage between the Netherlands and Brazil, whether material or immaterial. Projects will be evaluated for their ability to strengthen cultural identity and/or cultural heritage between both countries and their impact on the symbolic meaning of this heritage. The effects of the project for the location where it will be implemented will also be taken into account, such as: sustainable development of tourism, availability of cultural activities and stimulation of science and education, among others. Above all, the extent to which the project can guarantee the destination and conservation of this heritage in the future, will be evaluated.

Ana Cristina Valentino schrijft verder: ‘As a representative of MVIM, I would like to propose a partnership between your institution and ours, in which we could expand this objective, adapting it to the proposals that we will develop together. It will be a pleasure for us to establish a broader contact with Museum Geelvinck, as we believe that we will be able to make interconnections and build interesting parallels between our collections, developing a work that could bring us great results’.
