Sara Pegoraro – Sopraan Italian soprano Sara Pegoraro graduated with honors from the Conservatorio “B. Marcello” in Venice and the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “F. Vittadini” in Pavia. She later specialized at the Conservatorio “G. Verdi” in Milan, where she attended the postgraduate course in Italian Vocal Chamber Music, graduating summa cum laude and receiving a special mention. She furthered her studies in Italy with Anna Pirozzi, Federico Longhi, Claudio Desderi, Donato Renzetti, and Barbara Frittoli; at the Internationale Sommerakademie Mozarteum in Salzburg with Alessandra Althoff-Pugliese; in Spain with Montserrat Caballé; and with Julius Drake, Bernard Renzikowski, and Erik Battaglia for art song repertoire. She also studied privately with Fernando Opa Cordeiro. As a soloist, she made her debut in Venice at the Festival La Biennale as Don Ettore in J. Haydn’s La Canterina. She subsequently performed several operatic roles by composers such as J. S. Mayr (Donna Rosina), B. Galuppi (Eugenia), W. A. Mozart (Marcellina, Countess Almaviva, Donna Elvira, Second Lady), G. Verdi (Aida, Alice Ford), and G. Puccini (Tosca, Cio-Cio-San, Suor Angelica). Sara Pegoraro’s concert repertoire includes chamber music works by composers such as G. Fauré, C. Debussy, R. Wagner, F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, R. Schumann, R. Strauss, B. Britten, F. P. Tosti, G. Puccini, O. Respighi, I. Pizzetti, G. Petrassi, F. Alfano, M. Castelnuovo-Tedesco, E. Wolf-Ferrari, and L. Berio. She has also performed sacred works by J. S. Bach, A. Vivaldi, F. J. Haydn, G. B. Pergolesi, G. Rossini, and C. Saint-Saëns. In 2009, she was awarded a scholarship by the Richard Wagner Society to attend the Bayreuth Wagner Festival in Germany. She has also won prizes in several international singing competitions, including Voci Nuove per la Lirica (Pavia), Primo Palcoscenico (Cesena), Elsa Respighi (Verona), and Città di Piove di Sacco.
