Anna Smith – altviool British viola player Anna Smith studied at Cambrige and the Royal Academy of Music, London, where she won the Maurice Loban Viola Prize and a Jerwood Foundation scholarship to the International Musicians’ Seminar, Prussia Cove. A member of Manchester’s Hallé Orchestra from 2008, she moved to the Netherlands in 2012, where she regularly plays with orchestras such as Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Nederlands Kamerorkest and Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest. As a chamber musician she has performed with the Rietveld Ensemble, at the Den Haag Chamber Music and Beethoven festivals. She has developed her interest in historically informed performance practice though lessons with Antoinette Lohmann, with whom she has performed in Furor Musicus and the Giudicci Ensemble. Anna regularly performs with Johannette Zomer’s Tulipa Ensemble, and she has also been invited to play with Anima Eterna and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra under Ton Koopman.
