Duo Ella en Nicolas van Poucke Ella van Poucke – cello en Nicolas van Poucke – pianoforte vleugel Nicolas van Poucke Nicolas van Poucke (Baarn, 1992) begon op zesjarige leeftijd met pianospelen. Hij studeerde o.a. bij Marlies van Gent, Henk Ekkel en momenteel bij David Kuyken aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Vanaf september 2011 zal hij verder studeren bij Jan Wijn. Ook genoot hij enkele lessen van Murray Perahia. Masterclasses kreeg Nicolas o.a. bij Emanuel Ax, Dmitri Bashkirov, Jean Claude van den Eynden, Pascal Devoyon, Claude Frank, Gary Graffman, Maria Joao Pires, Menahem Pressler en Robert McDonald. Meerdere zomers was Nicolas te gast bij het Young Performers Program tijdens het Music@Menlo Chamber Music Festival and Institute in California en in de zomer van 2009 studeerde hij aan de Verbier Festival Academy. Als solist treed Nicolas op in binnen en buitenland. Hij trad op in de meeste grote zalen van Nederland, waaronder Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam, De Vereeniging Nijmegen, De Doelen Rotterdam en Vredenburg Utrecht. Ook gaf hij concerten in Duitsland, Oostenrijk, Zwitserland, Griekenland, Engeland, Amerika, Canada, Tsjechië en Bulgarije. Hij debuteerde met het JeugdOrkest Nederland o.l.v. Jurjen Hempel op 14 jarige leeftijd met Beethoven’s eerste pianoconcert. Nicolas won eerste prijzen en publieksprijzen bij het Steinway & Sons Pianoconcours 2006 en het Prinses Christina Concours. Hij kreeg een speciale prijs voor de beste interpretatie van een werk van J. S. Bach tijdens het European Union Piano Competition 2010 te Praag. Nicolas eindigte het hoogst in zijn leeftijdscategorie tijdens het YPF Nationaal Pianoconours 2010. Ook als kamermusicus is Nicolas actief. Samen met zijn zus Ella van Poucke organiseert hij de zeer succesvolle EllaNi kamermuziekserie in Amsterdam. Eind 2010 zagen zij het eerste EllaNi Kamermuziek Festival. Tot zijn kamermuziek partners behoren o.a. het Rubens Quartet, Colin Carr Christiaan Bor en zijn ReizendMuziek Gezelschap. Kamermuziek coaching kreeg hij o.a. van leden van het Orion en het Emerson Quartet, Gábor Takács-Nagy en Jeffrey Kahane. Nicolas is geselecteerd voor de International Clara Haskil Piano Competition in Vevey, 8-11 september 2011. Hij is zeer dankbaar voor de Steinway vleugel die hij in bruikleen heeft van het Nationaal Muziek Instrumenten Fonds. Ella van Poucke Dutch cellist Ella van Poucke began playing the cello at the age of six and soon after entered the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and later the Conservatory of Amsterdam. At the age of 10 Ella was selected to play in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and since then has been performing in all the major halls of the Netherlands and abroad. She has played for the 60th anniversary of the International Court of Justice in The Hague for a distinguished audience, which included the queen of the Netherlands and other international dignitaries. Ella was a first prizewinner of the 2008 Princess Christina Competition, and in November of the same year she made her solo debut in the big hall of the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, performing Vivaldi concerto for two celli with cellist Colin Carr. In 2010 Ella won the prize for the most promising talent in the Cello Competition of Amsterdam. Ella and her brother, pianist Nicolas van Poucke, form the Ellani duo and regularly play concerts in the Netherlands and abroad. On January 1st 2009 they began a concert series by the name of EllaNi in the Amstelkerk in Amsterdam. In 2010 they organized the first EllaNi Chamber Music Festival. In addition to the performances in her own series and other solo performances, Ella has been guest in the Zenith Festival and is a regular guest with the Amsterdam Chamber Music Society, where she performs with violinists Christiaan Bor, Frederieke Saeijs, cellist Godfried Hoogeveen and pianist Jean-Claude Vanden Eyden and others. Ella has participated in various music festivals including the Verbier Festival Academy in Switzerland, Pablo Casals Festival in Prades, Kronberg Cello Masterclasses in Germany and Music@Menlo in the U.S.A. Ella has performed in all major halls of the Netherlands and in Austria, Greece, Germany, Switzerland, France, and the U.S. Ella has performed in solo and chamber music masterclasses for artists such as Bernard Greenhouse, Menahem Pressler, Thorleif Thedéen, Laurence Lesser, David Finckel and Anner Bijlsma. Several times a year Ella has lessons from cellist Colin Carr. She has regular lessons with cellist Godfried Hoogeveen. Since september 2009 Ella studies with professor Frans Helmerson in Kronberg.
