Emmanuel Franco – bariton Emmanuel Franco Emmanuel Franco – singer, actor and dancer involved in arts since a very young age, baritone Emmanuel Franco Is a native of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. Emmanuel Franco began his musical training at the Baja California Orchestra Conservatory of Music with the tenors Marco Antonio Labastida and José Medina. He made his opera debut with the Tijuana Opera Company in the role of Sargente and later as Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia. Subsequent roles include Commissario Imperiale (Madama Butterfly), Contadino and Silvio (I Pagliacci), Il Notario (Don Pasquale), The Page (Amahl and the Night Visitors), Slook (La Cambiale di Matrimonio), Aurelio (La Mulata de Cordoba), Benoit and Alcindoro (La Boheme), Jupiter (Orpheus in the Underworld), Gorrion (Maria de Buenos Aires), Gianni Schicchi and Betto (Gianni Schicchi) – these last three at San Francisco Conservatpry of Music. Recently, in Mexico City, he sang Germano (La Scala di Seta) and Don Parmenione (La Occasione fa il ladro) with Pro Opera Company. Mr. Franco’s debut in the Bay Area was with the West Bay Opera Company during the 2010 season, in the role of Comissario Imperiale (Madama Butterfly), and he will sing the roles of Ping (Turandot) and Manuel (La Vida Breve) in West Bay’s 2011 season. In 2003, Emmanuel was part of a Voice Training Program for Young Singers in Barcelona, Spain. He has been part of the 3rd, 5th and 7th Summer Opera Encounter in Saltillo, Mexico; in 2005 and 2006 he participated on the International Vocal Arts Institute (IVAI) Summer Programs in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Tel Aviv, Israel. In 2005 Mr. Franco was recipient of the Young Revelation and Jo Davalos (Best Male Voice) awards on the 25th Edition of Carlo Morelli National Singing Competition at Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. Being in Mexico City, he was awarded from 2005 to 2007 with the Placido Domingo Scholarship at the prestigious S.I.V.A.M Young Artist Program. This year he received again the Anthony J. Rine Vocal Scholarship Fund and the Sarlo Scholarship Fund for International Students to finish his BM at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
